FAQ
(Frequently Asked Questions)
Q: Is your meat Zabiha Halal?
Yes. All of our animals are hand-slaughtered by a practicing Muslim following strict Zabiha Halal guidelines — right here on our farm.
Q: Is Halal meat only for Muslims?
Not at all. While Halal meat is prepared according to Islamic dietary laws, its core principles—animal welfare, cleanliness, and ethical treatment—are values that many people share, regardless of faith.
Halal means the animal was raised with care, given a natural, humane life, and slaughtered in a respectful, ethical manner—minimizing pain, fear, and stress.
At Pura Vida Pastures, we follow these values closely because we believe all food should come from compassionate, responsible farming. Many non-Muslim customers choose Halal meat for its quality, transparency, and humane standards.
Q: Who performs the slaughter?
We perform all halal slaughtering on-site, ensuring the process is done in the most humane and ethical ways.
Q: Do your animals receive antibiotics or hormones?
No. Our animals are raised 100% free of antibiotics, added hormones, or unnatural supplements.
Q: Will you offer other types of meat besides chicken?
Yes! While we currently specialize in pasture-raised halal chicken, we’re excited to expand our offerings. Starting in 2026, we plan to introduce beef, goat, and lamb all raised humanely on pasture and processed according to Zabiha Halal standards — right here on our farm.
Q: How do you ship your products?
We ship in insulated boxes with dry ice to keep your meat cold and fresh during transit. Currently, we ship anywhere in Virginia.
Q: Do you deliver outside of Virginia?
Not yet — but we’re actively expanding and plan to offer nationwide shipping in the near future.
Q: How are your animals raised?
All of our animals are pasture-raised, treated with care and respect, and never confined to factory conditions. We prioritize humane, natural farming practices every step of the way.
